Accessibility Showcase

March 8 to 10, 2010, Vancouver, British Columbia

In advance of the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada hosted the Accessibility Showcase. This three-day conference and accompanying exhibit were organized in partnership with the Government of British Columbia, the Canadian Paralympic Committee, 2010 Legacies Now and the Active Living Alliance for Canadians with a Disability.

The Accessibility Showcase featured keynote speakers and panel discussions on Canada's accomplishments in addressing accessibility. In attendance were representatives of disability-related organizations and the private sector as well as academic experts and government officials. The Accessibility Showcase provided an opportunity for speakers, panellists and attendees to engage in discussion and share best practices on topics such as accessible sports and recreation, tourism, transportation, housing and employment, as well as new developments in assistive technologies.

The exhibit was an extension of the Accessibility Showcase and was open to the public.

The Government of Canada is proud to celebrate the abilities and accomplishments of all people with disabilities. On behalf of our partners, we thank all the speakers and participants for attending the Showcase, engaging in discussions and sharing ideas around accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities.
